Web 2.0

Web 2.0 can be described as the second generation of web based services which allow easier creativity, collaboration, and sharing between web users. Web 2.0 encourages the user to interact with the viewed site and other web users, unlike Web 1.0 which only enabled the user to view sites. Not only did Web 2.0 bring freedom to the web by allowing the user to interact with the site but it also gave more people the power to create content on the web, instead of limiting this gift to people who know Hypertext Markup Language (HTML). Facebook, Google and YouTube are well recognised examples of what Web 2.0 has to offer to web users:

Facebook

Facebook was founded in February 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg. Millions of people use this networking system to keep in touch with friends, upload photos, share links and videos, and learn more about the people they meet.

Google

Google search is a web search engine owned by Google Inc. It is a widely used search engine that scans web pages to find instances of the keywords resulting in finding web pages that are important and relevant to a user's search.

YouTube

YouTube is a video sharing website on which users can upload and share videos. Users have the freedom to search or browse videos uploaded to the site and can post feedback to the user who uploaded the video.
